The Richard Branson Theory

10/03/2020
For most people, stepping far outside their comfort zone and into the unknown seems a scary thought - particularly when theres your financial future at stake. But what if you could just say 'yes' to every business opportunity that comes your way?

For mega success businessman Richard Branson, this is a mantra to live your life by.

Branson's quickbooks read, 'Screw it, let's do it!' really is about just that. Branson has built an entire entrepreneurial empire by saying yes to everything that comes his way, and it seems to have paid off.
His awe inspiring book ranges from saying yes to setting up a student magazine in college, which evolved into Virgin Records, to agreeing to fly a hot air balloon around the world in record time with very little experience.

What became apparent, was that was each time Branson said 'yes' to something, it provided him with another opportunity, and another learning experience. And whilst some of these ventures didn't hit the ground running, or were dead ends, a number of them turned into hugely successful companies that have made Branson who he is today.

The undertone to his book is that if you don't try anything, you'll never know how successful you can become, and how much of your untapped potential you can unlock. In fact, as Branson rightly pointed out, he has survived - through any bad decisions. poor judgement calls and cases of betrayal; whats the worse that can happen?

Another of Bransons motto's, and a personal favourite of mine, is 'Have fun and the money will come'. I like this because theres a lot of truth in it. Business should be an adventure, there should be twists and turns, ups and downs, there will be periods of financial uncertainty, but ultimately, it you're committed, dedicated and tenacious, the money will always come in the end.

Branson's entire philosophy is to take every opportunity in life. What are you going to say YES! to that might shape the future of your business?
